Antique English Prattware pottery watch stand c1810 period
Reference: 6803
Dated: c. 1800 to c. 1815 England
English pottery watch stand of unusual and very rare form. The watch holder is supported by a plinth with a mask head water fountain with a female figure holding a basket standing against it. There are two rather mysterious smaller figures on either side of the group which may be children. An interesting feature of the figure group is to be found on the reverse where the females arm is unbelievably telescopically modeled, a feature which adds period charm and humour to the group. The "Pratt" underglaze colours are of exception quality as is the fine pearlware glaze.
